Finding the right salesperson when hiring during the pandemic:
The recruitment marketplace is going through a volatile time. Many businesses are cutting back and pausing recruitment whilst others are looking to maximise their growth.
In this video, Gary talks about what he is noticing in the recruitment sector and talks through the advice he would give to businesses that are recruiting at the moment. Amongst the companies we are recruiting for, Objective Assessment are noticing a huge number of experienced applications for straightforward B2B selling roles which shouldn’t typically require a huge amount of experience.
Some of the companies we are recruiting for are getting a considerable number of sales managers applying for these sales roles. The client becomes excited about getting someone really experienced in the role but these sales managers are unlikely to be looking to make a permanent move back to being a sales person. They will be looking for something to do for now and then when the market picks up again, will be back in demand as sales managers. Gary advises, don’t fall for the applicant with the most experience who is looking for something during a difficult time. Instead, look for someone who will aspire to your role and remain committed.
We are finding that companies who are recruiting at the moment are finding some great candidates who are being ignored by other recruiter. At a time when job roles are getting hundreds of applications it has never been more important to evaluate first and then look at the candidates’ CVs to narrow down your search.
